Adolescence is a time in which adolescents give way to intense emotional relationships and find self concept and build self esteem. Literature reports that 55%-63% of adolescents are at low level of emotional intelligence which results in low self esteem. The present survey was conducted to assess the relationship between emotional intelligence and self esteem among 200 randomly selected (lottery method) students from six conveniently selected schools of dist. Faridkot, Punjab by using the emotional intelligence scale (EIS), Rosernberg self- esteem rating scale and socio demographic data sheet. Emotional intelligence scores were compared with self esteem scores. The Pearson's product moment correlation, t-test and ANOVA were used for statistical analysis. The results showed that emotional intelligence and self esteem had significant positive correlation at the level of 0.01. Study concluded that emotionally intelligent adolescents have high self esteem. Adolescents should be early identified early for emotionally immaturity and can be managed with help of school health nurse in school setting by providing different strategies for emotional intelligence and thus enhancing the self esteem.

Older adults, make important contributions to society as family member and in any work of the society, at the same time if not very active they can also be at high risk of developing mental disorders. A Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test study design was used to assess the effectiveness of self enhancement programme (SEP) on depression and self esteem among elderly residing in selected old age homes of Agartala, Tripura. 31 elderly were selected using Purposive sampling. The data were collected through interview technique. Self enhancement programme (SEP) consists of self introduction, guided imaginary, group therapy, role play and closing session given for one hour for continuous 7 days. The study results revealed that majority of subjects 17(54.8%) were in the age group of 75 years and above, 25 (80.6%) were female, 20(64.5%) widow/widower. The findings of this study indicated that SEP is effective in reducing depression (t value=5.208, p value = <0.05) and increasing self esteem (t-value=5.933,p value = <0.05) among elderly in institutionalized elderly. Moderately significant negative correlation was found between depression and self esteem at the level of 0.05 level of significance which indicates depression decreases with increase in self esteem. The study concluded that SEP is effective method for reducing level of depression and enhancing self-esteem of elderly.

Prison environment is not conducive for optimal development of the child so when mothers are imprisoned the children require a special attention. To examine this case study was done in a selected prison of Uttar Pradesh. The results reflect that the children are vulnerable in a situation where they are in other than home environment and are subjected to lots of unusual stimuli that the children who live in their normal homes do not face.

Child Sexual Abuse is prevalent in India as in many other countries and there is a growing concern to understand its dimensions and complexities. There is a large child population (19% of the total population) in India and a large percentage of this population is vulnerable to all forms of abuse, exploitation and neglect. It was felt that India needs strong interventions to deal with the increasing incidence of child sexual abuse through legislation as it was felt that the problem of child sexual abuse was bigger than what was previously acknowledged.

A quasi experimental one group pre test multiple post test design was used to determine the effectiveness of an interpersonal relationship skill training programme (IRSTP) on the knowledge, attitude and practice of interpersonal skills among nursing assistants in the care of patients with mental illness at selected Mental Health Center in Kerala. Through purposive sampling technique 30 nursing assistants working in Government Mental Health Centres, Thrissur were selected. Data were collected with a Structured Knowledge Questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding interpersonal skills, an Attitude and Practice Rating Scale to assess the attitude and practice of interpersonal skills. Technique used for data collection was self report and self rating. Study results revealed that the mean post test knowledge, attitude and practice regarding interpersonal skills among nursing assistants who had undergone the interpersonal relationship skill training programme was significantly higher than the mean pre test scores at 0.05 level of significance after the implementation of the intervention, and thus the intervention was found to be effective in improving the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of nursing assistants regarding interpersonal relationship skills.

Schizophrenia as a chronic mental illness has been found to be one of the most stigmatizing conditions. The experience of schizophrenia is not limited to the symptoms of the illness itself but it is also accompanied by the reactions of social environment, and the stigma associated with this disorder. To assess self-stigma impact on social functioning of patients with chronic schizophrenia, descriptive correlative research design was adopted. This study was conducted at outpatient clinics in El Abbassia Hospital-for Mental Health. Convenient eighty patients with chronic schizophrenia were recruited from the outpatient clinics who attend for follow up. Inventory of stigmatizing experiences, social functioning scale, and assessment of severity of negative symptoms scales were used to collect data. Findings revealed that, there was a moderate to severe degree of self-stigma. There were statistically significant positive correlations between experiences of participant's self-stigma and both, severity of patient's negative symptoms and social functioning especially recreational activities.

Facebook is the most popular online social network among youth and used by more than one billion people. The over use of Facebook on daily basis has many negative effects, so it adversely affects psychosocial wellbeing of youth. To investigate the effects of Facebook on psychosocial aspects among nursing student's descriptive exploratory design was adopted. This study was conducted at faculty of nursing, Cairo University. One hundred convenient sample of nursing students from the Faculty of Nursing, Cairo University were recruited from the users of digital library at the faculty of nursing, from level 1 up to 4 (10% from each). Intensity of Facebook Use, Short Depression-Happiness, Social Trust and, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scales were used. Findings revealed that, 70% of the entire sample had 200 contacts, 58% of Facebook users spend 1-5 hours daily. The results showed statistically significant difference between highly, medium and low users of Facebook with the depression happiness Social trust Scale, and self- esteem scales

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when a sudden trauma causes brain damage which can result from closed head injury or a penetrating head injury, parts of the brain that can be damaged include cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum and brain stem, symptoms of TBI can be mild, moderate or severe depending on the extent of the injury to the brain, outcome can be from complete recovery to the disability or death. This study was conducted to assess the level of stress on care givers of critically ill traumatic brain injury patients hospitalized in critical care units at NIMHANS. Descriptive research design was used for the study. The data was collected from 100 caregivers selected by simple random sampling, for duration of three months. Perceived stress questionnaire (Leven Stein et al 1993) was used to collect the information. The results showed that the stress mean score was 115.46 ± 4.319. Significant association between age and marital status with stress scores showed that there was statistically significant association indicating that there was influence on stress in those variables.
